Fate Intervened

Looking back over the past two years I still cannot really believe that what has happened is true, so many of the ambitions I had then have been a- chieved. Quite often I give myself a pinch to see if I will wake up and find everything is a dream and always I am filled with wonder that such an ordinary person as I could have changed so much

My earliest recollection from my childhood is of the summer's day my parents moved from the country cottage where we had been living, to a new home some miles away, I can clearly remember how happy they were at the prospect of a new life in new surround- ings and their happiness must have been infectious because I know I became very excited too. It appeared that father had been successful in his application for a vacancy which had been advertised several weeks previously He was going to be foreman of a large farm some miles away and we were going to live in the farmhouse.
